Kid's Mental Health Crisis: New Suicide and Crisis Hotline Available

The National Suicide and Crisis hotline has announced the launch of a new suicide and crisis hotline line, dedicated solely to serving the children in America who are struggling with mental health issues, depression and suicidal thoughts.

Tragedy Strikes

These past years have been rough on kids with many current events leading to increased rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide. The kids health field has been going crazy trying to deal with all the overwhelming needs. An increasing number of young people are experiencing an unbearable amount of stress, so a suicide crisis and prevention hotline has been set up that can be accessed 24/7.

Signs of Depression

It is difficult to notice changes in mental health with kids because their depression symptoms can be hidden. Some warning signs are irritability, low energy, difficulty concentrating, social withdrawal, sleep difficulties, recurrent thoughts of death or self-harm and an appetite change. Kids experiencing these feelings should get the help they need at their pediatric clinic or by calling a crisis hotline that provides confidential service with trained therapists.

Hotlines are Always Open

There is a new suicide crisis and prevention hotline that anyone can call 24/7 to get help if they are contemplating suicide, are experiencing a mental health crisis, or are struggling with substance abuse. You can also reach a trained crisis counselor by texting 988. There is hope.

Please Don’t Wait, Act Now!

Call or text 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org at the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for immediate help. It is free, confidential, and mental health professionals specially trained to help kids and teens. You could save a life by calling this number if you know someone who is thinking about suicide.
